Occasionally, employees will attend a meeting that imparts lots of valuable information in an efficient manner. But most of the time, this isn’t the case. Rather, a large majority of business meetings are filled with unnecessary reviews, irrelevant chatter, and pointless diversions.

As such, business leaders should seek to curb the number of meetings they schedule. Yes, it’s okay to touch base with your staff from time to time, but you shouldn’t have to hold progress-report meetings every day. Meanwhile, employees can ask to be excused from certain meetings that don’t pertain to them or their work. Just make sure to do this politely and respectfully.
