Eat fruits and vegetables, legumes, and whole grains that are high in fiber.

Robert Arnot, M.D., author of Diet to Prevent Breast Cancer (Little, Brown and Company, 1998) says fiber stops the body’s metabolism of estrogen and lowers estrogen levels in the blood. High levels of estrogen in the blood correspond to a higher risk of breast cancer. A diet high in fiber can reduce the risk of breast cancer by up to 54 percent.
